The game on PC is great, but whoever ported it spent no effort building any touch controls so it is truly impossible to play without an external keyboard. Even then, the mouse doesnt work well. Save your money

Basically the old PC game, toggling to bring up an on-screen keyboard. Still fun, and now much more portable. One star taken off for lack of user support/instructions. Thanks to Makamlar for directions on how to move cargo!

Not an App! Its the computer game on your phone. However, the controls were never converted to App use. Its basically an early 90s video game on a tiny screen, thats next to impossible to use if youre in a calm controlled environment. Forget trying to use this in a car, subway, or walking.

How do you declare independence? Nothing in the drop down menus work.

Why is this on the App Store?

It just runs the old pc game. Not bad in concept but doesnt have a reasonable keyboard or mouse interface. Because of this the cursor doesnt align with touchpad and it runs like a 386 computer on VGA graphics...literally the original game. Yuck! What a terrible launch.

Im a big a fan of Colonization and was thrilled to see the game in the store. Unfortunately does the poor control scheme ruin the game. Moving the cursor and trying to interact or avoid accidental clicks is frustrating. Taking any kind of actions takes 10 times longer. One or two colonies are manageable after that it feels like an overwhelming task.

Wont load past the cutscene after the player has selected their state/name/difficulty. 100% broken.

I played this as a kid and loved it. Its 100% the exact same game. Ive played for 48 hours already. Build your colony, trade, protect your land. Its awesome! To move diagonally use the end, home, pg up and pg down buttons. Other key buttons L to load, U to unload, b to build, F to fortify, p to plow, r to make a road etc. you can double click to make some actions happen. By the way it does NOT freeze after the intros just give it a minute, it will load... Has not crashed once on me.

Awful, absolutely awful game on iPad. You wont play this past 5 mins.

As others have said, this is an EXACT port of the old game. I loved it on the pc as a kid, so Ill play this iPad version, but it sorely needs updating - modernize the GUI and improve the graphics!!! As another reviewer said, you have to use the keyboard controls, which is a pain. It took me awhile to remember that you can skip a units turn using the space bar. It also has a BUG that REALLY MUST BE FIXED - the "Loading" function (to ship or to wagon train) in the new world isnt working correctly, often it loads items I dont want to load. The drag and drop isnt working and a selection option doesnt come up if I hit "L" on the keyboard. Loading in Europe doesnt have this problem as the selection menu pops up correctly.

This game is great!!!! I used to play this for hours and hours and hours when I was a kid. Now I get paid at work to do the same. Great game!!!!! Need more classics redone like this.

Colonization is a great game, but this iPad version is so poorly designed it is unplayable. No effort at all was put into making it functional on the iPad.

Does not open on iOS 9.
